Press Release

For next Winter Gianfranco Ferré is proposing a dashing feminine image, with neat lines and construction. In a natural free and easy way, he creates a “sport dimension even on elegant occasions,” with glamour and a touch of irony.

By avoiding hard and fast rules of fashion, even its most classic theme becomes extremely modern and vital. Each garment is practical, easy to wear and functional: therefore, there are lots and lots of trousers; full comfortable skirts, or essential ones, raincoats made of heavy cotton duck and camelhair coats that cling closely to the figure. For the evening there is the “parka” surprisingly lined with lamé, and trousers and dresses cut like coats, absolutely linear, with back buttoning cutaway necklines.

Emphasis is given to the quality and innovative treatment of materials. Swakara is used like cloth, gabardine is raised inside to make it softer; menswear worsted becomes shiny, the most classic tweeds are illuminated by little flecks of gold; organza, jacquards and silk taffeta are presented with the greatest delicacy. The play of colours is also precious and subtle: the natural shades of camel and vicuna range in a gamut to their deepest tones and are jolted either by vivid colours or by flashes of gold.
